The International Youth Forum which is yearly hosted by the
Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Affairs, the Republic of Korea and
organized by the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK) is an
international platform for gathering international youth with diverse culture from
around the world to discuss together the global issues at hand, bring diverse
perspective together.
This year, 2017, as the 28th of its celebration,
the 28th International Youth Forum took place from 23rd
to 30th of August 2017 in Seoul and Muju, the Republic of Korea. The
28th International Youth Forum was conducted in aims to increase
youth’s understanding of global issues, offering an opportunity to tackle them
and to find alternative ways or solutions, to improve cooperation and enhance
mutual understanding among youths across cultures and nationalities and to
spread goodwill around the world and to build interactive global citizenship
though networking among youths.
With 80 youths as
delegate from 31 countries namely Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Germany,
Greece, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Moldova, Morocco, Netherlands,
Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, USA,
Vietnam, Zimbabwe and South Korea, the 28th International Youth
Forum provided a platform for them together to discuss the issues and write
declaration for the solutions on the theme Strengthening Regional Cooperation
through Youth Exchange with its subtheme:
1.Youth Exchanges in Culture, Art, and Sport and Regional Cooperation,
2. Youth Volunteerism and Regional Community and 3. Online Youth Exchanges and
Regional Partnership.
Beside discussion sessions, the forum provided the participants
to involve in Korean traditional culture experience and entertainment
activities. Participants went to visited Jeonju Hanok village which is contains
over 800 Korean traditional houses, and they also involved in Seoul City Study
Trip. Moreover, participants learned and practiced of Taekwondo which is a
traditional Korean martial art for the way of kicking and punching in
Taekwondowon, Muju province.
